  THE YOGA EXPERIENCE
 
Promotes health and well being, enhances strength and muscle tone, improved spinal alignment, stress release, and integrates mind, body, and spirit.

 Level I Yoga:   An introduction to the fundamentals of yoga for strength, flexibility, and stress relief. This class is ideal for beginners and pregnant students!

 Level II:   Each class starts with a topic from stress management to meditation. Learn aids in relaxation, breathing, and health maintenance. All levels may join this gentle program.

Yogalates:  (NEW) A series of pilates style exercises with yoga stretching. This natural combination will sculpt every muscle, increase flexibility and relax you head to toe. The class will teach breathing and focus on core stability. Ideal for beginners through advanced students.

Tai Chi:  (NEW) This is the Chinese healing martial art system of exercise for physical, emotional, and mental well being. Its relaxing, slow motion movement patterns increase longevity while improving balance, stamina, circulation, concentration, and relaxation. Relieves stress, lowers blood pressure and improves health. Students should wear comfortable clothing.

The YMCA of Cecil County hosts a wide variety of energizing & invigorating aerobic classes led by certified, knowledgeable instructors. YMCA Aerobics classes are for every level from beginning calisthenics & intermediate upper body workouts to advanced "boot camp-style" sessions.

Classes are held weekdays during morning &/or evening hours in our state-of-the-art and Aerobics Room with it's terrific shock-absorbing surface & mirrored walls for maximum instruction.  Read on for more information about the individual programs, then check out our seasonal "Aerobics Calendar" by clicking on the link below or in the left side menu.

 
PERSONAL TRAINING
To obtain the best possible workout, tailored to your needs, start with a personal training session. Individuals are given 1 on 1 attention. Included in our training sessions are a combination of circuit machines, dumbbells, and free weights (if appropriate). Cardiovascular exercise is also an important component that receives attention as well. Whether general conditioning, rehabilitation, or sports conditioning, we cater to your fitness needs. Sessions are one hour in length.  Fees on the right.

Pump Up the Jam:  This is your hour of power! Strengthen all your major muscles in a high motivating environment with a high energy instructor and high energizing music. Check it out!!!

Box Aerobics:  You will get a kick out of this workout for sure!  Join this non-contact class with combination kicks and punches from martial arts and boxing with aerobic movement and drills. This class is sure to be a kick-in-your pants workout!

Butts-n-Guts:  The name says it all. Don't let this 30 minute class fool you, it is tough and you will see results... This class is good for any level. This is what you call short and sweet!

Step Interval:  This step class will be combined with weight resistance intervals and blasts of step moves that will strengthen your cardiovascular endurance and will tone and define your body giving you the look you have been waiting for.

20/20/20:  Just what you have been waiting for! A class on Saturday morning, to get you up and out of the house. This fun class is guaranteed to melt away unwanted pounds! 20 minutes of step, 20 minutes of kickboxing and 20 minutes of toning. All of this and Valerie as the instructor makes this the ultimate Saturday morning boost.

Cardio Kickbox/Sculpting:  This class blends 3 minute rounds of intense, easy to follow, fat blasting cardio kickboxing with a 3 minute round of muscle sculpting using weights. This type of interval training has been proven to burn the most calories while having fun at the same time. You will leave in an hour having done cardio exercise, strength training, ab work, and stretching... very efficient for those who want to get it all in but don't have a lot of time to spend.

Step & Sculpt:  A one hour class of non-threatening step aerobics. The class will also include weight training to define & tone your upper and lower body, a workout for the "abs", and ends with stretching.

Strength & Conditioning:  Gym style workout that will strengthen and shape your entire body using proven strength training methods. We'll use a variety of free weights, a resistance band, a step to use as a weight bench, and we'll also be doing various body weight exercises like push ups, dips, squats, etc. You will challenge all of your muscles. Class will end with a total body stretch.

Cardio Kickbox:  A high energy fat burner! This class combines classic jabs, punches, and kicks with easy to follow-yet intense combinations and patterns. This is a non-dancy athletic style workout that will tone your shoulders, arms, abs, and hips as well as provide you with incredible cardiovascular workout. Class will finish with an intense abdominal workout and relaxing stretch.

All programs have a minimum enrollment and registration is accepted on a first come/first serve basis. Fees must be paid upon registration. Two or three day classes cannot be discounted.

       Tumbling Tykes...      

An introduction to tumbling this interactive movement class features 1/2 hour of structured tumbling moves featuring the balance beam, springboard, and parachute activities. The other 1/2 hour of the class will feature music and fun through movement and positive reinforcement.

Maximum enrollment 15. For children 3-4 years of age.

   Youth Fitness Class...   

This class is designed for youth ages 12 and 13 years old who are interested in working under the guidance and supervision of a certified trainer. Included in the training sessions are a combination of circuit machines, free weights, as well as a cardiovascular and flexibility component.

The class meets on Tuesday and Friday evenings from 7:00 to 8:00 PM. Participants will only be able to workout in the fitness center during these times while under YMCA staff supervision.
